Passivating stainless steel
Permanent corrosion resistance in production processes are the main reasons why stainless steel is used.
What is passivation?
Passivation is a chemical process for the formation and optimization of passive layers,
without attacking the base material.
We use the patented POLINOX process from our supplier POLIGRAT.
Vorteile durch das Passivieren
- can be applied to all alloys with a chromium content of over 15% (lower Cr content requires adjustment)
- can be applied to any surface finish
- improve resistance to pitting corrosion
- double the resistance to stress corrosion cracking
- reduce the formation of crevice corrosion
- increase resistance to thermal discoloration by approx. 150°C
- eliminate ferritic impurities
- eliminate rust and corrosion products
- restore the corrosion resistance of damaged surfaces
- are not hazardous substances and are not subject to any restrictions in use
- can be applied directly to annealing colors and pickling seams and can often replace pickling.
